Things to consider when thinking about the easiest harmonica to bend

The humble harmonica is very affordable and so you really don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent harmonica. Obviously it's up to you how much you spend but it isn't necessary to spend lots of cash in order to get a great harmonica.

That said, a super cheap harmonica will not be good for bending (or anything really!). What I mean by a super cheap harmonica is those that you get free with 'how-to' books or those harmonicas you can pick up at supermarkets for a couple of pounds (or dollars!)

Investing in a decent harmonica won't cost the earth but equally to get good at bending you won't be able to do this on a really cheap instrument.

My recommendation for *the* harmonica that makes me sound really bluesy

Based on my decades of experience playing the harmonica all around the world and teaching hundreds of thousands of students I think that the easiest harmonica to bend is the...

Not only is this the harmonica I use more than any other, it's also the easiest harmonica to bend. It is relatively affordable, airtight and robust. It makes bending easy because it is responsive. Also the plastic comb is easy on the lips and doesn't swell or crack with moisture.

🚨 Beware! You can get cheaper mouth organs that look very similar to a Special 20, but they are usually terrible instruments and should be avoided because they'll make everything more difficult to play.

As a player I endorse Hohner harmonicas (you can read about that here). Hohner is a good harmonica brand and they provide exemplary harmonicas for beginners and advanced players alike.
